ChiWalking used in weight loss study - A University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) research group is conducting a study of the effects of mindful diet and exercise on weight loss, fat distribution and perceived stress and mood. The study begins this month and will take place over a 5-year period, with a total of 100 study participants. This NIH-funded study will be using the ChiWalking technique and principles for the mindful exercise component of the study. This study is preceded by a number of successful pilot studies, with strong indications that mindful eating and exercise are likely to play a role in weight loss and fat distribution.
